GRANASIL SYMPHONY MAENAN:

Toyah

Toyah our beloved Black and Tan pet Cavalier

Toyah was born 20 November 1998 and came to live with us at Maenan on 10 January 1999. She was unvaccinated and uninsured and only weighed 1 kilo. A little loveable bundle. Unfortunately Toyah had that rare illness Distemper.

We were very fortunate in the fact that we isolated her from our other cavaliers when we brought her home. We spent many a sleepless night not sure whether or not she would still be with us when dawn broke or be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge.

We have never had Distemper in our kennels so it took us unaware. With constant supervision and nursing, Toyah survived the illness but she has been left with epilepsy and is on medication for the remainder of her life. Toyah was bought mainly as a show dog with perhaps a litter later on in her life. But these plans received a permanent setback when it was discovered that Toyah had Slipping Patella in both hind legs. Her left leg was the most serious, as she was born without a groove for the patella to slide in. Toyah had the operation when she was just six months old. We have been informed that Toyah's life span will only be a short one. Until then she is a loved and adored family pet.
