China Images

It is also possible to obtain pottery and china images of our pets. A number of china firms produce models of various breeds of dog including Cavaliers; some of them also include the rare Ruby in their list of colours. Ask at your nearest china shop for further information on manufacturers, but here a a few I know of:

Border Fine Arts
Country Artists
Robert Harrop Designs (this is one for the frivolous, a Cavalier dressed up as a Cavalier!!)
Lenox (USA)
MnP Collectables World Famous Staffordshire Pottery offer pottery Cavaliers in all four colours.
North Light
Sherrat and Simpson

...And of course last but not least, the ubiquitous Staffordshire China Dogs, which may be found in various shapes, sizes, colours, and varying states of preservation in our junk and antique shops.

An antique Staffordshire Dog

I found a Staffordshire beauty in a Cotswold Antique shop in May 1996, four and a half inches high in maroon(!!) and white. I cloned her to make the bookends on the Bibliography page.

Stitchin' Cavaliers!

For the needleworkers amongst us, a selection of books, charts, and kits. I believe this fashion was started in Victoria's era when many ladies stitched, with varying degrees of skill, their monarch's beloved Tricolour Dash, sitting regally on a right royal cushion.

Needlepoint Kits

The King Charles Spaniel is a regal cavalier lying on a tasselled cushion a la Queen Victoria's Dash.
The kit is designed by Elizabeth Bradley,
Elizabeth Bradley Designs Limited, Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales, LL58 8DS
Tel: 01248 811055 (Country Code +44); Fax: 01248 811118
It is expensive but beautifully presented; you get a coloured canvas PLUS a chart, and have the option of exchanging the background colour if it does not suit. Well worth the investment!

Blenheim King Charles Spaniel (ref 106),
Tricolour King Charles Spaniel (ref 107)
and Two little Cavaliers in amongst the cow parsley; the Blenheim on a skyblue background, the Tricolour on cream.
